GENERAL FUSING RECOMMENDATIONS

A perfect working fusing press and appropriate conditions are needed to achieve good results. Only an exact balanced combination of temperature, pressure and time can guarantee an excellent adhesion. Therefore the temperature should be often checked carefully every day all over the press surface.

Also after an interruption the press should be checked, as on a non-working press the temperature may exceed the one fixed on the scale. Starting the production the same check-out should take place. It is recommendable to check the empty press' temperature with the usual tools. Start production only after this checking. Big differences may influence the results.

Another important element is pressure.

Scales mostly show the exact pressing conditions, but there are circumstances, not mentioned by scale-hand, which can lead to negative results, e.g. unequal presscovering or an out of balance presshead.

To check the equality, the fabric and the interlining should be laid on the whole press-surface.
Test the adhesion. Wrongly fused spots point at an unequal press covering or at unbalanced press plates. To learn which of the problems are existing, one should turn the presscover 180 degrees and test again.
If the presscover is unequal, bad spots will be shown at the opposite side. If the plate is not perfect, you'll see the bad spots at the same place as before.

For time's control it is quite necessary to look after transport, opening- and closing movements. If they include the pressing time, the exact one should be measured and fixed.

Note:
It goes without saying that the whole scale of fabrics, which are on the market nowadays, should be tested before starting the production. Not just for fusing, but also for steam pressing, ironing, etc.
